  • August 23, 2010Beware the Shock Pad

When I initially tried these sandals on in a store I was blown away with just how comfortable they were. I had been a Teva wearer for about ten years with an old leather pair that were stretched out and well past their sell by date. I had decided to move away from the new leather style because of the cheap looking appearance.

The look of the Terra Fi 3 is great. A well built sandal with a great footbed and the shock pad gives wonderful cushioning under the heel for my bad back. My first impressions were completely reinforced when I wore them for the first time.

However, the more I wore them the less I like them. When driving in them, the shock pad which was such a boon initially, makes you feel like there is a stone permenently under your heel, and no matter how you position your foot it just won't go away. It doesn't stop there, it gets worse. After driving for an hour or so, even walking becomes a problem with the shockpad, because your heel is so irritated.

If I was to buy again, I certainly wouldn't buy these sandals, purely because of the shock pad.

  • August 22, 2010Love Teva's. Always Have, Always Will

I have had 3 of these sandals, they last about 3-4 years of much use each, and are great in the water. I'm a loyal user of Teva's

  • August 22, 2010Tevas rock

New Teva's replaced my Columbia's that were worn out in the heels. Not sure how they will do on the boat and in wet conditions as the soles are black and could mark up the boat. Testing will prove if they end up being land lubbers or all around foot gear. Teva Velcro straps are stiffer than what Columbia uses so the straps take more adjusments to mold to your ankle. Teva soles are easier to clean but are not as stiff as the Columbia.

  • August 21, 2010Shock pad = disaster

What is with the shock pad???

The Terra Fi 2 was literally a PERFECT shoe, with good padding, and a consistently soft foot bed. Unfortunately, the Terri Fi 3 has fallen victim to somebody's hairbrain idea to put a "shock pad" under your heal. The shock pad is harder than the rest of the foot bed so you can feel it with every step. Think princess and the pea, or worse! To me, if feels like I have a tag or piece of tape stuck to my heal. It drives me crazy. I'm wearing my old Fi 2's again and my Fi 3's are available to anyone who wants them. You can have them for free, because that's what they're worth.

  • August 18, 2010Step down from Terra Fi 2

I had a pair of Terra Fi 2 sandals for the past 8 years, they were wonderful. When I saw some Terra Fi 3's for sale for ~$35 from sierra trading post I jumped on it even though my TF2's still have some life in them.

What a dissappointment -- don't get me wrong, they were worth every penny of $35, but they are a let down after the great quality of the TF2's.

    Pros
The foot bed is an improvement from the TF2

    Cons
    1. Shock pad is a nuisance, it doesn't add anything, just feels like some extra dense , less giving material under my heel -- thanks but I would rather something softer under my heel.

    2. There is less padding layer between the straps and your foot as compared to the TF2 -- this makes the TF3 a bit less comfortable.

Bottom line -- I would reccomend if you can get them on sale, otherwise, I would pass.
